Privacy Policy

Byndle is an independent project operated by Eloy Paredes Muñiz from Spain. We collect the data needed to provide the app, and we do not sell personal data or display advertising.

Data we collect

• Email and username to create your account.
• Protected login credentials; we never store your password in plain text.
• Preferences such as language, light/dark mode, and accent color.
• Optional profile information: bio, social links, and zodiac sign (we do not request your date of birth).
• User-generated content: reviews, lists, favorites, likes, and images you upload.
• Basic technical information: operating system, device model, and a device identifier used only to manage linked devices. This data is used solely for maintenance and security purposes.
• Push notification token, only if you choose to enable notifications.
• Gallery access permission, used only to upload a profile image, upload list cover images, or save share cards to your device.
• When importing your library from Goodreads via CSV: the CSV file is processed only to import your books and is not stored after processing.
• Book requests you send us (for example title, author, or ISBN) when you ask us to find or add a book that is not available in Byndle.
• Report-related information, such as the reported user or content, reason, and any comments you provide.

How we use your data

• To create and maintain your account.
• To display your content and personalize your profile.
• To enable social features such as follows and likes.
• To send relevant notifications if you enable them.
• To moderate content and maintain a safe community environment.
• To locate requested books, complete bibliographic metadata, and improve the accuracy of our catalog using external bibliographic sources.
• To comply with legal obligations or respond to lawful requests from authorities when required.

Legal bases

• Providing the service: creating and maintaining your account, displaying your profile and content, importing your library, and delivering features you request.
• Your consent: sending non-essential notifications when you enable them and accessing your gallery when you choose to upload or save content.
• Legitimate interests: protecting the service, preventing abuse or fraud, moderating content, and keeping the community safe.
• Legal obligations: retaining or disclosing information when the law requires it.

External services we use

• Vercel — hosting and deployment for this website.
• Cloudflare — CDN, DNS, and technical protection for this website. It may process minimal technical data, such as IP address and request logs, to deliver and protect the site.
• Resend — email delivery (account verification, password recovery, account deletion confirmation, and important service communications).
• Cloudinary — storage and delivery of images you upload.
• Apple and Google notification services — delivery of notifications when you enable them.
• Groq — resolving book requests and enriching metadata. It only receives the bibliographic data needed for the request, such as title, author, or ISBN.
• Open Library and Google Books — finding works and catalog metadata. We do not send your email, password, account identifiers, or profile data for this purpose.

We do not sell your data or share it for third-party advertising. These providers only receive the data needed to provide their function. Some may process data outside the European Economic Area; where applicable, we use safeguards required by applicable law.

Your rights

• Access your personal data.

• Request deletion of your account and data, subject to legally necessary exceptions.
• Request a portable copy of your data.
• Object to certain types of processing.

You can delete your account from the app at Account → Settings → Delete Account, or from this site under Contact → Delete My Account. To exercise any of these rights, withdraw consent, or lodge a complaint with the Spanish Data Protection Agency, email support@byndleapp.com.

Data retention

After you confirm a deletion request, we delete the account and its data from active systems within 30 days. Backup copies may retain information for their normal retention cycle and are only used for recovery and security. We retain minimal data where needed to resolve incidents, prevent abuse, or comply with legal obligations. Unverified accounts may be automatically removed after at least 21 days.

Minors

Byndle is available from age 16+ on iOS and 18+ on Android. You must not create an account or use the service if you do not meet the applicable minimum age. If we reasonably determine that an account does not meet it, we may suspend or delete it.

Security

We apply reasonable technical and organizational measures, including secure HTTPS communication and credential protection. No system is completely infallible; we recommend using a unique password and securing your device.
